UACRR SIGNED COOPERATION AGREEMENT WITH AUTHORS’ SOCIETIES FROM COUNTRIES OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF INDEPENDENT STATES (CIS)

Ukrainian Agency of Copyright and Related Rights (UACRR) signed cooperation agreement with leading collective management organizations from countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Signature of the relevant document took place in Moscow on May 20, 2009 during a meeting of managers of collective management authors’ organizations and related rights holders from countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The document has been signed by collective management organizations from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Ukraine.

Mr. Oleg Levchenko, the Senior Deputy Director of UACRR, who signed the document from Ukrainian party, explained that the agreement designed to coordinate efforts for the protection of interests of authors and holders of related rights in the territories of their countries, provide each other with scientific, technical, technological and information support.

State Enterprise “Ukrainian Agency of Copyright and Related Rights” (UACRR) is the most powerful collective management organization in Ukraine. UACRR is the only Ukrainian collective management organization which has international recognition; in particular UACRR is a Member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), which units 222 authors’ societies from 118 countries. Today, UACRR represents interests of more than 6 thousand Ukrainian authors and more than 2.5 million foreign authors. UACRR manages rights of these authors in the territory of Ukraine on the basis of the contracts with relevant foreign authors’ societies.
